If you want peace and quiet on a small organic farm, with beautiful views, birdsong and a river to sit by or fish in, then come and spend a few days and nights in our meadows and woodlands.
Ham Down meadow, Stour Hanging and Ham Down Copse cover around 8 acres and tents can be pitched on the field or in the woods. These fields form part of our 80 acre Soil Association registered organic farm. Since 1971, this farm has been a conservation and farming project; all mammals, birds, butterflies, bats and plants have been recorded and encouraged and you will have the chance to enjoy our unspoilt and undiscovered meadows, woods and riverbanks with beautiful views over the river Stour and across to Hambledon Hill.
The North Dorset Trailway runs alongside the farm on the track of the Somerset and Dorset Railway line, closed in the 1960s. You can walk, jog, run, cycle or ride to Sturminster Newton one way and Blandford Forum the other way, a total of about 8 miles.
There are no facilities at the campsite except a tap for fresh water near the meadow. Please bring a camping toilet with you, they can be purchased from online stores very easily. We have designated firepit areas for campfires with stacked wood which can be used for a small fee.
Cars can be unloaded about 200m from the field but then need to be driven down to the farm for secure parking.
If you enjoy coarse fishing, the farm has over a mile of riverbank to fish from. We can tell you the best spots and what you might catch.
We have a no dogs policy as the neighbouring farm is a sheep farm and there are often ewes and lambs in the adjacent fields.
